- A readable image is not the same as a registered product code. Validate commercial identifiers and test the final printed artwork with real scanners.
- Keep sufficient quiet space around the bars and avoid resizing a raster export in ways that blur bar edges.

Which format should I use?
CODE128 for general use — it handles letters, digits and symbols. EAN/UPC for retail products.
What data length can I encode?
CODE128 handles up to roughly 40 characters; EAN-13 needs exactly 12 digits (the 13th is a check digit).
Does generating an EAN or UPC register a product?
No. The tool only renders the number supplied. Obtain legitimate retail identifiers from the appropriate issuing organization before commercial use.
Why does my scanner reject the barcode?
Check format-specific length and character rules, preserve quiet margins, use adequate contrast and print at a size and resolution suitable for the scanner.
