GPA Calculator
Compute your semester or cumulative GPA from letter grades and credit hours. Supports both the 4.0 and 4.5 grading scales.
About GPA Calculator
The GPA Calculator works out your grade point average from your grades and credit hours. You can calculate a single semester or combine semesters for a cumulative GPA.
For each course, grade points are multiplied by its credit value; those weighted points are added and divided by total attempted credits. This prevents a one-credit class from affecting the result as much as a four-credit class.
It supports common scales such as 4.0 and 4.5, so you can choose the closest system your school uses. Institutions may map letter grades, honors courses, repeats, withdrawals and pass/fail work differently, so the result is a planning estimate rather than an official transcript calculation.
How GPA Calculator works in practice
- 1Add each course with its grade and the number of credits/hours.
- 2Select the grading scale your institution uses (e.g. 4.0 or 4.5).
- 3Read your weighted GPA, which updates as you add courses.
- 4Add more semesters to see your cumulative GPA.

Common questions about GPA Calculator
What is a weighted GPA?
A weighted GPA multiplies each course’s grade points by its credit hours, so higher-credit courses count more toward the average.
Does it store my grades?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is saved on our servers.
Why might this differ from my transcript?
Your school may use a different grade-point table or special rules for repeated, honors, pass/fail or withdrawn courses. Use its official policy for final decisions.
How is cumulative GPA calculated?
Combine quality points from all included semesters and divide by their combined eligible credits. It is not normally a simple average of semester GPAs when semesters have different credit totals.
